As we graduated from college, we were the most ordinary, most typical, most picture ... well ... perfect couple you could imagine.  You couldn't have drawn up a more picturesque start to a young family.  5 years into marriage our world was rocked beyond anything that we could prepare for.  Our First born, our Princess, our Everything ... our then 2-year old daughter, Mabry, was diagnosed with severe special needs.  The record screeched, the earth stopped, and everything we thought we knew was turned upside down.  We were broken.

Through years of crushed dreams and blurred vision we grieved.  Sometimes together, sometime separately, we processed what our new normal might be.  We climbed together, we pushed each other, we put one foot in front of the other, and we made it to the other side.  On that side, we found a calling that we didn't ask for or envision.  A calling that was never a part of our dreams for ourselves or each other.  This calling has us leading, supporting, and encouraging families with special needs who feel alone, forgotten, and overwhelmed.

We often find ourselves unequipped for this calling, without the answers or the expertise.  But we fight for, love on, and lean in to the families that we're called to.  It's not easy, but it's TOTALLY worth it.
